Luckily, Anna Maria Island has not seen a major hurricane in some time but it does not take much to wreak havoc to island homes. Here is a video of Tropical Storm Debby in 2012 and its affect to a ground level Anna Maria Island home.
It is always best to have a plan of action well before a storm is near and creating checklists helps us make sure nothing is left out. We offer “closing” services that include removing items that may be damaged by winds, relocating exterior furnishings for protection, sand bagging, shutter securing, breaker shut-offs (for surge protection) and any barrier protection that is within our capability. Often times lumber and plywood are sold out with local suppliers and/or rationed equally so it is always better to be prepared in the event that this service is requested. Unfortunately it is very difficult to get to all properties so we may not be able to tend to all last minute requests especially if the island goes on lockdown. Homeowners that utilize our monthly maintenance program and that have filled out their Hurricane Preparation Checklist will be helped first and all other requests will be handled accordingly and based on a first come first serve basis.
